ULTRASONIC
INSPECTIONThe propagation and transmission of ultra-high frequency sound waves through a test specimen and evaluating the reflected sound waves on a time delay oscilloscope. This phenomenon of sound vibration is not only applicable to solids, but gases and liquids as well. ULTRASONIC TESTING
METHODS We currently utilize a number of different ultrasonic generating and inspection equipment, based upon the pulse/echo system. A description of this method would be as follows: short pulses of ultrasonic energy are generated electronically and transmitted through the test material by contract, or through a liquid couplant (immersion). The pulses are reflected from the opposite side and any discountinuities within the piece appear as blips on the Cathode Ray Screen. TYPICAL
